China Glaze Stroll, and a welcome to the blog

I'm a registered nurse that works in an ICU of an 800 bed hospital. But, I'm also a nail polish fanatic that's been into the polish world much longer than I've been a nurse. Working in the hospital brings a lot of challenges to maintaining healthy nails and a tidy manicure. Between handwashing or alcohol-based foaming any time I step in or out of a room I'm frequently left with dehydrated and peeling nails. This blog is to help share how I keep my hands healthy around the necessities of my job.

To start, here's one of my latest manicures, China Glaze Stroll.

Stroll is a burgundy jelly with a glass-fleck finish that China Glaze is famous for perfecting. This was 3 coats and it didn't give me any issues with application. When I moved last year for my job I left the majority of my polish collection behind, so I've been working on rebuilding it with some classic, core colors. You can see that I also found it at TJ Maxx for a whole $2.99 - score! :)

You can also see that I keep my nails quite nubbinized. Even with careful cuticle care and moisturizing, my jobs damages my nails too much to grow them out too long. Which is perfect, because what patient wants big ol' talons anywhere near them? Can you imagine what kind of hospital crud would get caught underneath? I'm not a squeamish person (hence what I do), but even that makes me shudder a bit.

Stay healthy, and until next time!
